RADIO PROGRAM CRITIQUE (07-1240)

8TH OCTOBER
Today Kate and James are discussing on obesity. The main causes being eating too much high fat or refined sugary foods. She stated that in Kenya, it is now becoming increasingly high because of the lifestyle that people have adopted. She also indicated that it also runs in the family, i.e it is inherited.

15th OCTOBER
Today, the topic of discussion was on fibroid.The people who have a higher chance of getting fibroid are women between the ages of 30 and 40, as well as those that had an early puberty. This condition affects only women.

22ND OCTOBER
October being the breast cancer month, they just could not help but talk about this disease. She talked about its causes, and how it can be prevented. The best way though that she emphasized,to avoid getting breast cancer was doing a breast cancer self examination, this way if you detect anything unusual, it would be easier to be prevented. She also stressed that men should not shy away from breast cancer coz they also get affected.

29TH OCTOBER
On this day,Kate and James talked about how to eat and balance ones meals. Kate stressed that people should not skip their breakfast as most of us do. She said that breakfast should be the heaviest meal taken, you then should have a mild lunch-not too much and an even lighter supper because at night the digestion rate is slower. In al these one should have a well balanced meal.

18TH OCTOBER
Claudia talked about the annual Hajj pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia and comparing their experiences with those who organize big sporting and political events. She also talked about how a nice scenery can take your pain away.

25TH OCTOBER
Claidia's guest today was Ad Kerkhof a clinical psychologist who has come up with a treatment for people  who worry too much. This treatment is about exercising your mind and anyone can do it without the need of a therapist. She also touched on malaria where a drug resistant strain has appeared and now people in Thailand and Cambodia spray their headscarf to fight against malaria.

1ST NOVEMBER
Today Claudia talked about the ability to conceive among women who are between the ages of 30 and 40. Her guest fertility expert professor Simon Fishel said that with these women their chances of conceiving will now depend on their blood group type. Those with blood type O are unlikely to conceive.She also talked about telemedicine which involves transferring medical information through audiovisual media for the purpose of consulting.
