The vuvuzelas evolution and Launch of African Women Decade.
This piece of news really intrigued me on this day whereby a competition was set out to get a winning idea on how the vuvuzela will be put to usefull use after the world cup is over.
Competition organiser Jono Swanepoel says designs will be handed over to local manufacturers, who will receive all the proceeds from the sale of the new-look vuvuzela.
"This is ultimately designed to create jobs for crafters out there," he told the BBC's Network Africa programme.
Some people wanted it to become a hearing aid, some to magnify sound from your phone and many other funny impractical inventions.
The winner will get part of the $1000+ for trying to invent the vuvuzela.
On the other hand, the Kiss Morning breakfast show talked on the launch of African womens decade which took place at the Kenyatta Conference center with the aim of Promoting Economic Empowerment of Women and Entrepreneurship.
Women called in with their concern and as usual, Jalango didn’t fail to make us laugh on his very subjective and sensational news segment called, **********

Kiss 100 morning breakfast show Host Caroline Mutoko and her co-hosts embark on a try out to Broadcast in Swahili, and they miserably failed at it. They were unsuccessful at pronunciation and command of the language at large. They had no authority at all. This got me thinking, that radio is supposed to educate their listeners and not otherwise, then why where this presenters comfortable with killing a rich language like Kiswahili? Maybe it was out of sheer colonialism of the brain or trying to entertain their listeners with self-deprecating humor.

Network Africa did an interview with a music group from Ghana called FOKN Bois, this brought light entertainment bit to the otherwise straight facts, hard news roundup. They also played music from a Ghanaian group. In addition, I love the news phone ins and correspondence between the host and reporters from all over Africa. This is not a common fixture in our Kenyan Radio news segments, most of the time in our radios, unlike BBC, the news reader reads from the studio and there is no news from where it’s taking place.
27th October.
KISS 100 Breakfast show.
It’s all about Kiss my Vitz on this show. This is a promotion for the vitz whereby people text in and try to win a pimped out vitz. What I like about the presenters of this morning show is that they are really good at marketing and selling a product. They sure can cause a fire any day with their confidence and will to get results. That is my favorite presentation trait of the trio

Audrey Brown brings her stellar presentation to the show. I love their Jingle of A Cock crow, it really brings out their African theme and at the same time passes across the message that it’s a morning show. She also consistently shares a proverb in every show. The correspondence and reporters from all over Africa filled us on news from their respective places and the song of the day was from my country Tanzania J
I have enjoyed reading your informative critique. Consider revising the colour scheme and font style.
ReplyDeleteWhat do you consider to be the most outstamding difference/similarity between the two shows?
