CLASSIC 105 BREAKFAST SHOW

The breakfast show on Classic 105 that runs from 6 am to 10 am, falls under the Adult Contemporary format that basically consists of a few current popular hits, called currents, recent hits known as recurrent and popular songs which make a larger percentage, known as oldies. I know one may argue in the sense that the show falls under Classic hits or Contemporary Hits radio, but let it be considered that once definition of an oldies determines so much and the fact that under Contemporary Hits Radio, songs are repeated, this is automatically out as the show in question is not run in that way.

There are a lot of unethical issues that tale place when this show is running, like today, I was listening to the comments Mwalimu Kingangi the co-host of the show, made about Tanzanian general elections. And he keeps on reminding us how slow our neighbors are, and how unlike Kenyans they will go to the polling stations discussing among each other who they are voting for unlike Kenyans who will keep it as a secret and only the ballot paper and box will know who has been voted for. Maina, the host, also commented that the results are likely to come out next year as our Tanzanian brothers are never in a hurry. That was really hilarious, however, it is unethical because the presenters are using a community’s weakness to diminish them or make fun of them.?Unlike focus on africa that dwells in not only continental but also world wide issues,Classic's breakfast show mainly deals with events in the local scene.It si evident that the two have different target audience.

PLOT

Classic breakfast show basically deals or discusses day to day issues and also briefs their audience with the currents news and traffic updates. It also carries forward the aftermath of an afternoon show, “Busted” hosted by a female presenter Ciku. From the busted findings they are able to pick up a topic such as. For instance from last weeks busted, where a woman discovered cheating on her husband with her boss uttered the phrase “Oh my God” thirteen times after she was netted down, became the topic of discussion last Friday. They also get to discuss issues that affect this generation and purely adult contents, for instance, on the 15^th of October; the topic of discussion was from the question, “Is it true that currently women are holding much higher positions in companies and organizations than men? And also, “Behind every successful woman ia a man or men who has contributed so much to that success.”

ORIGINALITY

The originality of the show leaves many questions to be answered. It is not original, I say these because way back we have had morning shows at the same time discussing same issues, Kiss 100’s breakfast show hosted by Felix Oduor aka  Jalang’o, Larry Asego ands Caroline Mutoko aka Queen of Radio is one just among many breakfast shows that have similar content, however the difference comes in the kind of music they play and how many times tit is played the issue of audience brings in a difference as Classic’s would strictly reach out to a totally adult audience.
